The Minor A Football final is on Sunday Novermber the 9th in the Naul at 10.30am

Team have been named:

Final-Verdict:

A mixed bag in the group stages for Na Fianna after finishing top of the minor football league but since then they have overcome Boden and Crokes which is some going.

Sylvesters finished 3rd in the league and had a mixed group stage in Champsionship, including a walkover handing them 2 points, but in the knockout stages have beaten a strong Judes and Lucan.

Very hard one to call - See their paths to the final in more detail and see what you think.

Semi-Final stage

The Minor Football Championships have reached the Semi-Final stage.

Here's we'll have a quick run down of whose left in the A competitions and their route to the semis.

Minor A Championship Semi-Finals:

How they got here:

Na Fianna:

Na Fianna come second in Group 1 behind Judes, with 2 wins and a loss. They dismantled Maurs in R1, beat Clontarf by 10+ in Round 2 before taking a bit of a trimming off Judes in R3 - losing 2-15 to 1-07.

In the quarter-final Na Fianna edged out Boden by one point AET 2-16 to 2-15 - Boden had come into that on 3-0 and a +58 Points Difference in the group, so that was some win.

Crokes:

Crokes also came second in their group, according to the DCB website but i would have thought they should be ahead of Lucan on the head to head. Anyways the website has them behind Lucan in Group 4 with 2 wins and a loss. They hockeyed a clearly badly graded Ballymun in Round 1, then lost to OPER in R2: 3-06 to 0-12 and then won a close one against Lucan winning 1-16 to 2-11.

Crokes beat Raheny pretty comfortably in the Quarter-Final, so might come into not as battle hardened as Na Fianna.

Verdict:

Really hard one to call - Na Fianna had a great test against a very strong Boden in the quarter final, so maybe just give them the edge? Just.

-------

St.Sylvesters:

Syls finished Group 2 on second place on 2-1 with a points difference of +4. They hammered a badly graded Barrog in Round 1, then in round 2 Thomas Davis gave them a walk over, in the third round they lost to Boden in a low scoring game 1-09 to 0-09.

Form not hugely convincing from the group stage, but they got a good win over Judes in the quarter final on a score of 1-12 to 0-11 - Judes had topped group 1 on 3-0 including a big win over Na Fianna, so Syls will take a lot from that win.

Lucan Sarsfields:

Lucan had topped Group 4 on 2-1 with a good win over OPER in R1, a big win over the Mun in R2 and then a loss to Crokes in the third round 2-11 to Crokes 1-16

In the quarter Final they narrowly beat St.Pats 1-14 to 2-09 - that Pats team had finished second in group 3 - which Raheny had topped.

Verdict:

Based purely on the results it's hard to judge - maybe give syls the edge as they beat a Judes team who were going really well in the quarter-final?

Best of luck to everyone involved! 💪

Half-time score:

Full Time:

Na Fianna 1-11 - St.Sylvesters 1-06

Congratulations to Na Fianna, they looked in real trouble at Half-time but they grabbed the momentum in the second half and drove on to claim a great win. Have the Hurling A Semi-Final now next weekend and I'm sure there's plenty of overlap on the teams so easy does it on the celebrations! :)

Hard luck to Sylvester's, it'll hurt now but getting to the A final is good going, and sometimes losing a final is the making of players as the hurt can motivate them on to future success.
