Quick reaction to the results from the weekend:

First off here are the results in full:

GROUP ONE:
-------

NaFianna v Boden

As the top two teams in AFL 1 - was billed by many, myself included, as the tie of the weekend ,but it turned out to be a very one-sided game, fair play to Boden, their attacking play was ridiculously good at times. In particular, Collie Basquel stood out with his sharpness and confidence in stark contrast to the guy who was low on confidence before his injury with Dublin, in this form Dublin would have been a different proposition - and with con of course - he kicked 3 or 4 sweet 2 x pointers including one from well outside the arc.

He was ably assisted by Young Sweeney (1-04 from play) and O'Dwyer (1-06) in attack. But the reality is Boden dominated so much in the first 15-20 mins, the game was effectively over in that period, despite the best efforts of Brian O'Leary for NAF, who got 3-02 himself.

Match Report here:

TT:You had Boden (thought it’d be tight; it wasn’t).

Boden blitzed it from the off and were miles better than expected on the night.

Best performers: Colm Basquel, Daire Sweeney, Darren O’Reilly, James Holland, Ryan O’Dwyer (Boden); Brian O’Leary (Na Fianna).

-------

Vincents - 1-11 BSJ 1-24

Thought this one would be a lot closer - but then Vinnies were missing Dunne, who is very influential. Seems Breathnach started, so he must have got back from the States sharp enough and scored 2 points on his return.

Looks like Lundy, Quirke, and McNally did most of the damage on the scoreboard

Match Report here:

TT:I leaned Vinnies.

BSJ pulled away after half-time; far more comfortable than a 50/50 call.

Best performers: Mark McNally, Johnny Quirke, Jack Lundy, Liam Fenton (BSJ); Gavin Burke (Vincents).

-------
GROUP TWO:
-------

Ballymun Kickhams 2-15 - Templeogue Synge Street 2-15

TT:I had Ballymun by a few.

Mun looked set, but Synger clawed it back late — a fair share in the end.

Best performers: Niall Scully, Luke O’Brien (TSS); Paddy Small, Dillon Keating (Ballymun).

-------

Whitehall 1-15 - Castleknock 3-14

TT:I tipped Castleknock (right call).

Goals were the difference; Castleknock did enough in a decent battle.

Best performers: Eoin Sawyer, Kevin Stephenson, Ciarán Kilkenny, Rob O’Shea, Luke Swan, Conor Chawke (Castleknock); Cormac Costello (Whitehall).

-------

-------
GROUP THREE:
-------

Lucan 1-18 - Thomas Davis 2-12

Lucan won by three points — 21 to 18

TT:You had TD to shade it.

TD led at the break, but Lucan finished the stronger — big result for them.

Best performers: Jordan Delmar, Brendan Gallagher (Lucan); Chris Sallier (Thomas Davis).

-------

Cuala 4-16 - Raheny 0-14

TT:You said Cuala by a few if Con played — they romped it.

Holders looked sharp and ruthless; Raheny couldn’t find the goal they needed.

Best performers: Con O’Callaghan, Niall O’Callaghan, Peadar Ó Cofaigh Byrne (Cuala); Brian Howard, Rob Hennelly (Raheny).

-------

-------
GROUP FOUR:
-------

Crokes 0-21 - Clontarf 0-14

TT:Crokes to edge it — they won with a bit to spare.

Controlled from Crokes; Clontarf game but outgunned.
Best performers: Paul Mannion, Dara Mullin (Crokes).

-------

Judes 0-24 - Sylvesers 1-18

TT:You had Jude’s to edge it — spot on.

High-scoring and open; Jude’s accuracy told late on.

Best performers: (Not named in the round-up) — Jude’s depth across the forwards; Syls’ leading attackers kept them in touch.
