he rain lingered over Parnell Park, heavy and cold, the kind that tests both the hands and the heart. Two clubs stood on the line, one chasing a double, the other chasing redemption. When the fog of battle cleared, it was Ballyboden who stood tallest, 1-16 to 1-12, champions of Dublin once more.
Na Fianna came with swagger, their season already gilded by hurling success. But Boden have a memory for these nights. They’ve been here, they’ve hurt here, and they know what to do when the air turns thick and the crowd holds its breath.
The first half was an arm wrestle. Daire Sweeney’s frees gave Boden rhythm, Colm Basquel’s pace gave them bite. Na Fianna had their moments too, James Doran and Donal Ryan keeping them in touch. At 0-9 apiece, it could have gone either way.
Then came Céin D’Arcy, a blur of intent and conviction. His finish was clinical. One kick of a ball, and the balance of the final tipped for good. Na Fianna chased shadows after that. A late goal added a flicker, but it was too little, too late.
Watch Peter Healy's great two pointer:
Collie Basquel Interview after the game:
For Boden: A return to the peak, a reaffirmation of club identity, and now Leinster awaits, and they’ll be a hard team to shift.
For Na Fianna, a sting that will linger. The double dream is gone, but the hunger will remain.
