Huge double header in Parnell Park this Sunday with the Intermediate Finla the curtain raiser for the Premier Intermediate Final between Commercials and St.Sylvesters.

Commercials

Commercials have been progressing up the ranks over the last few years with a young team who have a very high skillset, so it's not at all surprising to see them in another final. They topped the group with 6 wins from their 7 group games. Generally running up 24+ scores per game, only in the draw with the Barrs were they held to fewer then 20 scores (1-17). They finished the group in some style scoring 3-25 v Cuala in the second last round and 1-30 against O'Tooles in the last round

On to the Semi-final where they met the one team they had previously failed to beat but this time they made no mistake beating the Barrs well, scoring 4-21 to 0-14.

St Sylvesters

For their part Syls also only dropped points in one game, a 4-15 to 3-24 loss to Commercials. But outside that they've been on a very impressive run of results, albeit a few of them were narrow enough wins, only really in the last round against Vincents did they cut loose running up a big score of 4-22 to Vincents 0-16.

In the Semi-Final they met Olafs who they had beaten by only 2 points in the group, but this time they ran out very convincing winners 1-22 to Olafs 1-13

Verdict:

I don think you can question these are the two best teams at this grade this year, the semi-final results were more then convincing, so it should be a really good game. The group game between the two was 19 scores to 27 scores, and even with 4 goals Syls still lost, so I'm going to say advantage Commercials.

It'll be very interesting to see how both these teams fare in SHC2 next year.

Teams Named:

I don't know the Syls team so much but saw the Commercials team playing the final last year and was really impressed with them, other then the obvious Dublin panelist (D O'D) Drewitt, O'Kelly and O'Keeffe all stood out and probably others who i have forgotten since.

Leinster:

the winner of this game will go on to represent Dublin in the Leinster Intermediate Champsionship - which will be brilliant experience for the players involved.

The Game:

Commercials have gone into a commanding lead early on, DOD and Drewitt causing Syls problems

Commercials are well on top at Half-Time - DOD with the goal.

Unfortunately Syls are down to 14 men as well

In the second half, Syls fought their way back into the game and, with the wind at their backs, strung together a run of points. In the end though, they’d left themselves with too much to do, but at least managed to put a more respectable look on the scoreboard.

Congratulations to Commercials, a team really going up through the tiers
