What was always going to be a tough away fixture, turned even tougher when Sean McMahon saw red for what appreaded to be a shove that was obviously seen as a strike by the officials at the game.

Ger Breannan named quite an experimental looking side again, which makes sesne as he has to look at new players and hope to find some genuine options later in the year.

I had been impressed with Jack Lundy in the O'Byrne cup games earlier in the year, i think his kick passing could be a serious asset later in the year when pitch dry up and the game gets a bit faster. Luke Breathnach obviously had a big impact when introduced in round 1, as did Conor Tyrrel and Cian O'Connor.

THE GAME:

DUBLIN 2-9 - MAYO 1-18

A disappointing result for the dubs but the game had been close enough until the red card. you can read the full match report here.

The loss of Con to a hammer tweak before the game was a blow as well, Con really makes the Dublin attack click and having someone like him alongside the newer players would really help them get into the game more.

Teams and scorers:

Reaction:

Even with the red card, only 11 scores over the course of thegame is a little worrying from a Dublin perspective - Jack Lundy did have a good game though, so he is surely worth another look.

Ger Brennan's thoughts:

Dublin are now in relegation trouble, and will need wins over Monaghan, Galway and Roscommong to have a chance of staying up.

Ger Brennan went on to question the appetite of some of the more established players later on after the game, remains to be seen who he is refering. to and whether he's trying to get a reaction from them.
